Tortuga Bay
Tour description
This walk surpasses many of the visitor sites on a typical cruise with its beauty, uniqueness and wildlife. The 2.5km walk from Puerto Ayora to the beach is along a paved footpath which winds through arid vegetation, exhibiting some of the best stands of giant Opuntia cacti, which dominate the lava floor and canopy.
At the far end of the shelterless beach you can observe the abundant marine iguana population inhabiting the lava outcrop, the turtles feeding in the waves nearby and a good chance of sharks and rays inhabiting the waters nearby. There are also a huge number of shore and land birds along the beach.
Snorkeling, kayaking and surfing are optional extras, depending on conditions and interest, so please enquire about this beforehand!
