Garrapatero Beach
Tour description
A hidden beach on the eastern part of Santa Cruz is the destination for this visit.
Taking transport back into the highlands and over a seldom used but good road through untouched transition and arid vegetation for 25 minutes will deliver us to the pathway leading to Garrapatero beach. The path is about half a mile and cuts in through the arid and finally coastal vegetation dominated by beautiful twisted and tall poison apple trees.
Arrival at the fine white sandy beach rewards us with a view of a lagoon occasionally frequented by feeding flamingos. Beyond this is a short idyllic with a bit of shade beach and some nice swimming.
Kayaks will be boarded in the beach area from where we can get away from it all, explore coves, look for turtles poking their heads up out of the water, and follow pelicans.
