Charles Darwin Research Station

Charles Darwin Research Station Tour, Santa Cruz, Galapagos

Tour description

This is a fairly easy tour, showing you the institutions of the well-known Charles Darwin Research Station (CDRS) and National Park Service (GNPS), including the famous tortoise rearing project, Fausto Llerena .

Apart from hearing about the various conservation projects, missions and history of both the Galapagos National Park Service (GNPS) and the Charles Darwin Research Station
(CDRS), you will also learn about the fundamentals and details of evolution with the famous iconic examples you’ll see along the way such as the giant tortoises and Darwin Finches and less famous examples like lava lizards and cacti!

The CDRS area has the richest diversity of coastal and arid flora of the whole archipelago which reflects the local finch diversity!

Understand the biological terms endemism, native and introduced and their implications in Galapagos! Discuss the effects of anthropomorphism! Above all, reflect and remember Lonesome George and understand his successor, Diego!

$40/person (based on three people). The tour will generally be a private one, and will vary significantly depending on how many people book.
