Puerto Villamil is smaller and quieter than Puerto Ayora, with a long white-sand beach beside the town. Isabela particularly suits travellers interested in volcanic scenery, walking, snorkelling, wildlife and a slower pace.

Reaching Isabela
Most visitors arrive from Santa Cruz by inter-island boat, while small inter-island flights may also be available. Crossings can be uncomfortable for travellers sensitive to motion, and arrival and departure schedules reduce the useful time available on travel days.
How long should you stay?
Several nights are usually needed to combine the volcano, a marine excursion and time around Puerto Villamil comfortably. The right length depends on walking ability, interest in snorkelling, sea conditions and how much unstructured time visitors want.
