Paul McFarling

Paul McFarling is a biologist and naturalist guide who has lived and worked in the Galápagos Islands since 1992. With a degree in Environmental Biology and more than three decades of experience in the field, he has guided visitors on expedition cruises and land-based journeys throughout the archipelago.

His approach brings together wildlife, ecology, evolution, geology and human history, helping visitors understand the islands rather than simply pass through them. That first-hand knowledge also shapes the practical advice and visitor-site information presented throughout this website.

GalapEx is a Galápagos-based travel company specialising in thoughtful, individually planned journeys. We can arrange selected services or build a complete itinerary around each traveller’s dates, interests, comfort with boat travel, preferred pace and budget.

Our aim is to give clear, realistic guidance about what can be visited independently, where a guide or boat is required, and how the inhabited islands and day excursions can work together.
