Bartolomé
Bartolomé is one of the most recognisable landscapes in the Galápagos. Its volcanic scenery and the view over Pinnacle Rock make it particularly valuable for understanding how young, dry islands are formed and colonised.
Why visit?
The walk to the viewpoint passes lava formations and pioneer plants before reaching a broad view across Bartolomé and neighbouring Santiago. The excursion usually also includes time near the coast for a beach visit or snorkelling, depending on the authorised itinerary and conditions.
What to consider
Bartolomé is commonly visited on a full-day cruise from Santa Cruz. The exposed climb can be hot, and the navigation is longer than for some nearby destinations. It works especially well for travellers interested in geology, landscape and photography.
